Abstract

Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis usually responds to conservative treatment. In chronic lateral epicondylitis various surgical techniques result in pain reduction and a high patient satisfaction. Arthroscopy became a reasonable alternative to open and percutaneous procedures, particularly for lateral epicondylopathy, with a low risk of complications and certain advantages compared to other surgical interventions. In golfer's elbow or medial humeral epicondylitis arthroscopy is not rated as high as on the lateral side due to the anatomical relationship of the common flexor tendon to the ulnar nerve as well as the medial collateral ligament and the easier exclusion of differential diagnoses.
