Abstract

Traian's memory has been preserved for almost two thousand years by the Romanians and by some Slavic peoples. As for the form Troian there have been debates among philologists. Some of them stated that Troian would have a Slavic origin, others considered that it appeared in the Romanian language. Recent archeological discoveries (Michael Speidel, Const. C. Petolescu) indicate that the version Trojan existed even in the Ancient world thus all the previuos hypotheses have been refuted.
