AbstractLanguage
The libraries of the University and Archdiocese of Cologne keep numerous fragments of mediaeval Latin manuscripts. As a rule, their majority originated in the later middle ages and contains the most popular and widespread texts of the time. Besides grammatical treatises by Alexander de Villa Dei, John of Garland or Eberhard of Béthune and canonical poetical authors like Ovid one naturally encounters snippets of other popular didactic genres like the Ars dictaminis and the Ars notariae. This article presents two hitherto unknown fragments of the Summa notariae of John of Bologna and of the unedited Summa Thymonis, both copied in the 14th century.English
