Abstract

Based on a systematic literature review, I question whether the established understanding of ICT as a process optimizer is sufficient to effectively shape the transformation towards a circular economy. Using selected practical examples, I illustrate where linear process optimization is rethought through circular process innovation and which new technical and social challenges must be mastered as a result.
