Abstract

Zu Beginn des 15. Jahrhunderts kam es am gesamten Mittel- und Oberrhein zu Ausschreitungen gegen Beginen, so in Mainz, Straßburg, Speyer und Basel. Aber auch im benachbarten Konstanz, Bern und Freiburg im Üchtland kam es zum Streit über diese Lebensform. Diese frommen Frauen lebten zu diesem Zeitpunkt häufig im Umfeld der Franziskaner oder Dominikaner. Hintergrund dieser Auseinandersetzungen waren theoretische Überlegungen zu Fragen von Arbeit und Armut und ein wachsender Einfluss der weltlichen Macht auf geistliche Institutionen im Jahrhundert vor der Reformation.

Translated abstract:	Abstract Language In the beginning of the 15th century, attacks against beguines occured all over the middle and upper Rhine area, for example, in Mainz, Strasbourg, Speyer, and Basel. Moreover, there were also disputes about this form of life in the neighbouring cities of Constance, Bern, and Freiburg. At that time, the pious women often lived in the environment of the Franciscans or Dominicans. The background to the disputes were theoretical considerations about questions of work and poverty and a growing influence of secular power on spiritual institutions in the century before the Reformation.
