Abstract
Diese Arbeit untersucht die erste griechischsprachige Zeitung „Efimeris“ und die erste serbischsprachige Zeitung unter dem Namen „Serbskija noviny povsednevnyja“ bzw. „Serbskaja novina“, die gleichzeitig 1791 und 1792 in Wien erschienen sind. Die zentrale Frage ist, inwieweit die Zeitungen zur Verbreitung aufklärerischer und reformerischer Ideen sowie zu den Freiheitsbewegungen auf dem Balkan beigetragen haben. Dabei werden auch die Voraussetzungen für die Entstehung der Zeitungen sowie die sprachlichen, literarischen und kulturellen Zusammenhänge mit diesen Entwicklungen, wie sie in den Zeitungen in Erscheinung treten, berücksichtigt. Insgesamt kann eine Grundhaltung der Zeitungen nachgewiesen werden, die auf die Förderung von Rationalität und kritischem Denken und auf die Abschaffung von Vorurteilen ausgerichtet ist. Durch die Verbreitung progressiver Ideen, z. B. über die Bildung und eine von der Vernunft geleitete Staatsverfassung, bieten sie insgesamt eine neue Denkweise und präsentieren sich als Proklamierer von Reformen und Aufständen gegen die osmanische Unterdrückung.

| Translated abstract: | Abstract Language This thesis examines the first Greek-language newspaper, Efimeris, and the first Serbian-language newspaper, Serbskija noviny povsednevnyja or Serbskaja novina, which were published simultaneously in Vienna in 1791 and 1792. The central question is to what extent the newspapers contributed to the spread of Enlightenment and reformist ideas and to the freedom movements in the Balkans. The conditions for the emergence of the newspapers and the linguistic, literary, and cultural connections with these developments, as they appear in the newspapers, are also taken into account. Overall, it can be demonstrated that the newspapers had a fundamental stance aimed at promoting rationality and critical thinking and at overcoming prejudices. By disseminating progressive ideas, e.g. about education and a constitution guided by reason, they offered a new way of thinking and presented themselves as proclaimers of reforms and uprisings against Ottoman oppression.
