Abstract
Der Beitrag skizziert die diagrammatische Struktur der Lebenswegmetapher von der Antike bis zur Frühen Neuzeit. Die epochenspezifische Besetzung hängt einerseits vom Weltbild und von je eigenen Diskursregeln ab, andererseits werden diese von literarischen Strategien genutzt, kritisiert und unterminiert. Indem der Lebensweg über die Erzählung als Lebenslauf in Gang kommt, eröffnen sich im historischen Prozess unendliche Variationen.
