Abstract

This paper deals with the use of the terms “Slavic” and “Slavonic” in English. While “Slavic” is traditionally regarded as American and “Slavonic” as British English, usage recently seems to have been converging: “Slavic” (and especially “East/West/South Slavic”) is now also used in Britain, whereas “Church Slavonic” seems to have become the regular term also in American publications.
