Abstract

The dystopian horror film "The Purge" depicts a dire, biopolitical world in which the eradication of unworthy citizens during one night of the year is shown as essential for society's survival. In this regard, "The Purge" incorporates several aspects of Michel Foucault's concept of Biopower or Biopolitics. This paper argues that both Foucault's concepts as well as "The Purge" represent a system that revolves around a positive interpretation of killing
