Background A comprehensive insight of the supply structure with oncological exercise therapy in Germany is currently not available. The survey's objective was to analyse the range of physical exercise interventions at German cancer centres and their infrastructure. Methods In 2015 all certified German cancer centres (n = 756) were asked through questionnaires about their current range of exercise therapy and compared with defined minimum infrastructural requirements for the implementation of targeted exercise therapy. Results 132 questionnaires were included in the data analysis. 90,9 % of the centres offer at least one form of physical or exercise therapy. 22,7 % of surveyed centres meet the minimum requirements. Conclusions Most of cancer centres are currently incapable of implementing optimised training management and patient care systems considering latest scientific evidence. Therefore, the establishment of a therapeutic standard in the form of guidelines for oncological sports and exercise therapy is necessary.
