Abstract

In this article, literary translation is conceptualized between writing research and translation studiesand is analyzed as a separate phenomenon. Central to this lies the assumption that literary translation should be understood as a special form of writing. For this purpose, the current state of researchon the topicwithin writing process research and translation studies will be outlined initially. Using selected models and findings from writing research, aspects are then to be extracted,on the basis of which literary translation can be analyzedas a separate writing mode: the trans-lation process and its control, the role of the work environment, experiences of flow and blockages,as well as the identity and role of translators. In order to illustrate the following considerations in the best way possible, specific examples are then used(apart from academic literature): Both self-reports from translators and literary texts themselves that provide information about trans-lation processes.
