Abstract

This study aims to identify key dimensions in the implementation of workplace learning in higher education. Utilizing an integrative literature review, 38 papers meeting the inclusion criteria were analyzed from an initial pool of 227 articles retrieved from various databases. The objective was to provide an overview of how workplace learning is implemented in higher education contexts. Additionally, a semi-structured interview was employed as the primary data collection instrument, involving 12 faculty members from a Laotian university as key informants. The collected data were analyzed using a deductive category assignment approach. By collating various perspectives, the findings propose ten critical dimensions that should be considered when integrating workplace learning in higher education institutions. These dimensions include personal interest, self-confidence, individual engagement, group learning, trust, management, expertise, collaborations, policy, and culture. Future research may further validate these findings through a quantitative research design.
