Abstract
As Picasso stated: “I do not search, I find!”, the method of serendipity in art is a question of finding, mostly by way of a ‘lucky chance’. Something which could be a method, a strategy or a motive for a work of art could lead to a further intention for making art in general. What catches the eye is interpreted as an epiphany. The question is whether or not chance in art is comparable with serendipity, or is rather random in art giving a lucky chance? Furthermore, the viewer takes on an important role: artists wanted, and still want to give the viewer a creative role as well, serendipity should be their’s by participation. The viewer should also ‘find’ something in art, something always unforeseen but discovered as an eye-opener.

Algo que se podría determinar como un método, una estrategia o un motivo en la creación de una obra de arte podría llevar a una nueva intención para la creación de arte en general. Lo que atrapa al ojo aparece como una epifanía. La pregunta es si la suerte en el arte se puede comparar con una serendipia o si es la casualidad la que conduce en el arte al hallazgo fortuito. Por otra parte, el observador asume un papel importante: los artistas siempre han querido darle un rol creativo; la serendipia se lo retribuye a través de su participación.
