    Abstract

    Die vorliegende Arbeit soll einen Beitrag zum theoretischen Verständnis verschiedener mathematischer Bildbearbeitungsverfahren liefern. Sie enthält Theoreme über das Verhalten von Minimierern des sogenannten Mumford-Shah Funktionals in einer Dimension. Aufgrund dieser neuen Theoreme kann man sicher sein, daß beim mathematischen Zugang über solche Funktionale die wesentlichen Merkmale eines Bildes (Unstetigkeiten in der Helligkeit) erhalten bleiben. Ein weiterer Teil der Arbeit vergleicht verschiedene Varianten von Diffusionsfiltern. Insbesondere wird der Zugang von Perona und Malik analysiert und anhand numerischer Simulation studiert.

    This thesis is intended to make a contribution to the theoretical understanding of different mathematical image processing methods. It contains theorems about the behaviour of minimizers of the so called Mumford-Shah functional in one dimension. These new theorems show, that in the mathematical approach via such functionals the essential features of an image (discontinuities of brightness) are preserved. Another part of the thesis compares different variants of diffusion filters. In particular the approach of Perona and Malik is analyzed and further investigated by means of numerical simulation.English
