| In the age of the internet the archival description and the digitisation of charter fonds is on the agenda of archivists. The paper discusses why charters in particular should be presented on the internet. But the traditional methods of calendaring are not apt for the large amount of material to be processed. Following the distinction between a printed scholarly full description (Vollregest) and slim archival descriptions as part of finding aids the paper argues that the full description is not adequate to the archival situation not only by reasons of quantitiy. It concludes by advocating slim archival descriptions in combination with digital images of the highest possible quality. | English |
