Abstract

In the 19 th century, French became the language of culture for the Sephardic Jews who lived in the Ottoman Empire. That prestige has left its mark on the development of Judeo-Spanish. The aim of this paper is to present the range of French influence on Dhudezmo, which still can be visible. We will analyze this phenomenon in contemporary Istanbul Judeo-Spanish.
