Abstract

The Leaf ‘Patchwork of Life’ is part of collective results of the Multispecies Storytelling Pop-up Exhibition on October 19, 2024 in Cologne, Germany. The exhibition featured the works of participants in the Autumn Academy for Planetary Wellbeing organized by MESH, EUniWell, and BRIDGES. The leaf describes a participatory art installation called The Patchwork of Life created for the exhibition. The piece used a large canvas painted with local plant and animal species and shaped to hint at ecological ties and loss. Viewers are invited to sew back ripped parts representing endangered or extinct species, prompting reflection on care, loss, and the limits of repairing multispecies worlds.
