Abstract

The digitization of universities is a complex and inconsistent process. In this paper a first impression is given what does digitization of universities mean and how much progress did this process make. In an outline without dealing with any details it is tried to look at the university and the process of digitizing it as a whole. The dynamics and potentials of this development will be shown. In a second step the place of university libraries in those digitized universities and the necessary changes will be assessed.
