Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderung an der Gesellschaft ist eng mit verschiedenen technischen Kompensationsmöglichkeiten verstrickt. Technik wird als Hilfsmittel eingesetzt, das behindernde Situationen überwinden helfen soll. Das gelingt jedoch nicht immer – Technik kann ihrerseits behindern. Vor diesem Hintergrund wird das vorherrschende, einseitige Verständnis von Technik als Hilfsmittel problematisiert und stattdessen ein phänomenologischer Reflexionsrahmen vorgeschlagen: Die Fragen, wie ich etwas mache und warum, ist in die Frage einzubetten, worauf ich mit der Technik antworte. So werden für die (heil-) pädagogische Diskussion der Technik neue Perspektiven hinsichtlich der Begründung für den Technikeinsatz und der Erwartungen hieran erschlossen. Das Buch richtet sich gleichermaßen an Nutzer*innen, Assistent*innen, Pädagog*innen, Techniker*innen und Forscher*innen.

| Translated abstract: | Abstract Language Participation of people with disabilities in society is closely entangled with various technical compensations. Technology is used as an aid to overcome disabling situations. However, this is not always successful - technology, in turn, can be disabling.
Against this background, the prevailing, one-sided understanding of technology as an aid is problematised and instead a phenomenological framework of reflection is proposed: the questions of how and why I do something is to be embedded in the question of what I am responding to with the technology. This opens up new perspectives for the (curative) pedagogical discussion of technology with regard to the reasons for its use and the expectations placed on it. The book is aimed equally at users, assistants, educators, technicians and researchers. English La participation des personnes handicapées à la société est étroitement liée à différentes possibilités de compensation technique. La technique est utilisée comme une aide qui permet de surmonter des situations handicapantes.
Elle doit aider à surmonter les situations difficiles. Mais cela ne réussit pas toujours - la technique peut à son tour être handicapante.
Dans ce contexte, la compréhension dominante et unilatérale de la technique en tant qu'aide est problématisée et un cadre de réflexion phénoménologique est proposé à la place : les questions de savoir comment je fais quelque chose et pourquoi, doivent être intégrées dans la question de savoir à quoi je réponds par la technique. Ainsi, de nouvelles perspectives sont ouvertes pour la discussion sur la pédagogie (curative) de la technique en ce qui concerne la justification de l'utilisation de la technique et les attentes à son égard.
