Abstract

The family Dysoneuridae (Trichoptera, Intergripalpia), hitherto known only from compressed forewing fossils (Upper Jurassic to Lower Cretaceous), is now known from Upper-Cretaceous Burmese amber. In our study, five species within two new extinct genera are described from the mid-Cretaceous: Cretapsyche circula sp. nov., C elegans sp. nov., C insueta sp. nov., Burmapsyche comosa sp. nov., and B. palpifurcata sp. nov. The well preserved amber specimens provide additional information about the family, which was previously known only from compressed forewing fossils, allowing classification of Dysoneuridae in the Integripalpia and the superfamily Sericostomatoidea.
