Abstract

El rock & roll es un género musical, una práctica discursiva, un producto de una poderosa industria cultural. Como tal dejó su impronta en la historia del Siglo XX. La velocidad con la que se convirtió en un fenómeno de masas, está asociado a una serie de transformaciones económicas, tecnológicas y culturales que moldearon las nuevas formas de la globalización. Es por esto que se convierte en un excelente testimonio de algunos procesos de cambio en sociedades y campos culturales alrededor del mundo. Al explorar la historia de las diferentes naciones latinoamericanas en las décadas del sesenta al ochenta, se encuentra que el rock & roll tuvo un fuerte impacto en múltiples esferas de la vida, dado que, por afinidad o rechazo, se convirtió en referente de nuevos procesos identitarios entre las nuevas generaciones -sin hablar de su protagonismo en el desarrollo de nuevas industrias culturales- Resulta curioso, por lo tanto, que hasta la década del noventa sea difícil rastrear la presencia del rock & roll en la literatura hispanoparlante. En este texto se exploran funciones y consecuencias de la presencia de ciertas referencias musicales en un conjunto de novelas que han sido asociadas al mundo del rock en España y Latinoamérica. Esta asociación obliga a pensar si el rock guarda alguna relación con la singularidad atribuida a estas novelas en sus respectivas tradiciones. Más allá de los gustos y las clasificaciones, estas novelas son un excelente testimonio de las relaciones entre cultura letrada y cultura popular, entre tradición y vanguardias, entre cánones literarios y rupturas en las letras hispanoamericanas de la segunda mitad del Siglo XX.

Translated abstract:	Abstract Language Rock & roll is a musical genre, a discursive practice, a product of a powerful cultural industry. As such, it left its mark on the history of the 20th century. The speed with which it became a mass phenomenon is associated with a series of economic, technological, and cultural transformations that shaped the new forms of globalization. This is why it becomes an excellent testimony of some of the processes of change in societies and cultural fields worldwide. When exploring the history of the different Latin American nations in the decades from the sixties to the eighties, it is found that rock & roll had a substantial impact on multiple spheres of life, given that, by affinity or rejection, it became a referent of new identity processes among the new generations -not to mention its protagonism in the development of new cultural industries. This text explores the functions and consequences of certain musical references in a group of novels associated with the world of rock in Spain and Latin America. This association forces us to think about whether the rock is related to the singularity attributed to these novels in their respective traditions. Beyond tastes and classifications, these novels are an excellent testimony of the relations between literate culture and popular culture, between tradition and avant-garde, between literary canons and ruptures in the Hispanic American literature of the second half of the 20th century.
