Abstract

Cette thèse porte sur la morphosyntaxe du kunoofaay, une langue jóola parlée dans le village de Mlomp Nord qui se trouve au Nord-Ouest de Bignona dans la région de Ziguinchor, au Sud du Sénégal. C’est une langue Bak qui appartient à la branche du Nord des langues atlantiques du groupe Niger-Congo. Le cadre théorique choisi pour ce travail est, d’une part, la théorie distributionnelle de Bloomfield pour la phonologie et, d’autre part la Basic Linguistic Theory de Dixon (2010, 2012) assortie des apports de la linguistique typologique-fonctionnelle pour la description des structures grammaticales de cette langue non décrite. Cette étude nous a permis de contribuer à la description des structures et du fonctionnement de cette langue mais aussi d’approcher, à travers la langue, la culture d’un peuple, et enfin de contribuer à sauvegarder le patrimoine linguistique de celui-ci. La morphosyntaxe concerne l’ensemble des structures qui permettent de construire grammaticalement un énoncé. La description de la morphosyntaxe du kunoofaay qui a été faite dans le cadre de cette thèse nous a permis de passer en revue la phonologie et la morphonologie, d’approfondir la morphologie et d’apporter une contribution à l’étude des classes nominales, du système nominal, du système verbal et de la syntaxe. Elle a exploré un champ qui n’était pas encore étudié dans ce domaine. Le travail comporte onze chapitres à savoir (1) Introduction générale, (2) Phonologie, (3) Morphophonologie, (4) Noms et classification nominale, (5) Déterminants nominaux, (6) Système verbal, (7) Modifications de la valence verbale, (8) Prépositions, adverbes et idéophones, (9) Types de prédicats, (10) Types de phrases et (11) Topicalisation et focalisation. En annexe, nous avons un conte et deux lexiques : kunoofaay / français et français / kunoofaay.

Translated abstract:	Abstract Language This thesis focuses on the morphosyntax of kunoofaay, a jóola language spoken in the village of Mlomp Nord which is located in the North West of Bignona in the region of Ziguinchor in the South of Senegal. It is a Bak language that belongs to the Northern Branch of the Atlantic languages of the Niger-Congo group. The theoretical framework chosen for this work is, on the one hand, Bloomfield's distributional theory for phonology and, on the other hand, the Basic Linguistic Theory of Dixon (2010, 2012) supported with the contributions of typological-functional linguistics for the description of the grammatical structures of this undescribed language. This study allowed us to contribute to the description of the structures and functioning of this language but also to approach, through the language, a people’s culture, and finally to contribute to safeguarding the linguistic heritage of this one. Morphosyntax concerns the set of structures which make it possible to build grammatically an utterance. The description of kunoofaay morphosyntax which was made within the framework of this thesis allowed us to review the phonology and the morphonology, to deepen the morphology and to make a contribution to the study of nominal classes, nominal system, verbal system and syntax. She explored a field that was not yet studied in this area. The work includes eleven chapters namely (1) General introduction, (2) Phonology, (3) Morphophonology, (4) Nouns and nominal classification, (5) Noun determiners, (6) Verbal system, (7) Changes in verbal valence, (8) Prepositions, adverbs and ideophones, (9) Types of predicates, (10) Types of sentences and (11) Topicalization and focus. In the appendix, we have a tale and two lexicons: kunoofaay / French and French / kunoofaay. English
