Abstract

The aim of the present study was to investigate the effects of the Good Behavior Game played during a peer-tutoring intervention (reciprocal teaching) with a sample of 69 children with externalized behavioral problems (third and fourth grades). Using a two-group-design the study examines, weather playing the Good Behavior Game in addition to peer tutoring could improve rule compliance, general behavior, reading skills and social inclusion of the children. The results reveal that the intervention without the Good Behavior Game was slightly more successful. A closer examination of the descriptive statistics leads to the hypothesis, that children with strong behavioral problems showed an improved rule compliance when the Good Behavior Game was played additionally. The discussion contains methodological and pedagogical issues as well as perspectives for the educational implementation and further research proposals.
