Abstract

With the Collaborative Research Center TRR259 Aortic disease a research association on aortic diseases has been established for the first time worldwide and combines the expertise from three university hospitals. The aim of the research consortium is to elucidate the molecular and cellular pathomechanisms involved in the development of different aortic diseases. The main focus of the research program lies on diseases of the aortic valve, in particular calcific aortic valve stenosis and aortic aneurysms.
