Abstract

Esta tesis estudia la importancia de las relaciones interpersonales entre los actores sociales, civiles y militares durante los años de la Confederación Perú-boliviana (1836-1839), la composición social heterogénea de los ejércitos, las necesidades logísticas para la manutención de las tropas y las dificultades que debieron afrontar estos gobiernos, tanto de manera interna como externa. Debido a los pocos estudios que abordan a la Confederación Perú-boliviana (1836-1839) en su totalidad, la presente tesis doctoral presenta una nueva aproximación a su historia y a la guerra emprendida por Chile contra ella entre 1837 y 1839. Siguiendo la corriente historiográfica de la historia de guerra, donde se abordan temas económicos, políticos, diplomáticos y sociales, y la metodología de la historia conectada, la cual permite ver al proceso en su conjunto y no como algo aislado de lo que acontecía en el resto del continente, se pretende demostrar en qué medida el uso de alianzas políticas y vínculos socioeconómicos por parte del Estado central en el Perú, Chile y Bolivia con las provincias y diferentes sectores sociales permitió sostener los proyectos de Estados-naciones y las guerras civiles e internacionales. Para poder lograrlo, se ha consultado documentación de archivo hasta ahora inexplorada o poco estudiada de carácter militar, administrativo y epistolar proveniente del Perú, Bolivia, Chile e Inglaterra.

Translated abstract:	Abstract Language This dissertation studies the importance of interpersonal relationships between social, civil and military actors during the years of the Peru-Bolivian Confederation (1836-1839), the heterogeneous social composition of the armies, the logistical needs for the maintenance of the troops and the difficulties these governments had to face, both internally and externally. Due to the few studies that address the Peru-Bolivian Confederation (1836-1839) in its entirety, this doctoral thesis presents a new approach to its history and the war waged by Chile against it between 1837 and 1839. Following the historiographic current of war history, where economic, political, diplomatic and social issues are addressed, and the methodology of connected history, which allows us to see the process as a whole and not as something isolated from what happened in the rest of the continent, it is intended to demonstrate to what extent the use of political alliances and socioeconomic ties by the central State in Peru, Chile and Bolivia with the provinces and different social sectors allowed to sustain the projects of nation-states and civil wars and international In order to achieve this, archival documentation has been consulted until now unexplored or little studied of a military, administrative and epistolary nature from Peru, Bolivia, Chile and England.
